Free tickets, concerts and workshops to celebrate International Museum Day

Today, Thursday, International Museum Day is celebrated, with free tickets, concerts and workshops in the museums of Euskal Herria. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977, and this year the central theme is “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being”.

The entrance to visit the four exhibitions of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country Artium Museum ‘Bilduma Hau Collection. Elementary Movements (1950-2000)’, by Alejandro Cesarco; ‘Other recent examples’, by Irati Gorostidi-Mirari Echávarri; ‘San Simon 62’; and ‘Sahatsa Jauregi’ is free, from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 May. The organization recommends reserving a place in advance by calling 945 20 90 20 or on the museum’s website.
On the other hand, the artist Nerea Lekuona has prepared some open workshops for all ages entitled “The alphabet of the neighborhood”. Participants will create a large participatory mural of textures, colors and words that will speak of the neighborhoods in which they live. The workshops will be held on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
The museum program is completed with two Guided visitson Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
