“There are many hungry wolves, can you find the wolves in this photograph?” DiCaprio’s character says while holding a book in his hands and some sequences of the film that will hit theaters in October appear in a flash. The feature film is set in 1920 Oklahoma (USA) and follows the Osage tribe native serial killings in the fight for oiland the investigation of the newly formed FBI.

Release date

The film, which was scheduled to be released in 2022, will have its first screening at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, which is taking place until May 27, but it will not have its formal premiere until October. Specifically, the film opens in theaters on October 20 and later, it will be released on the platform of AppleTV+.

This is the first time that the renowned American director brings together the talents of the two stars most present in his filmography. With Robert de Niro, Scorsese had worked on films such as ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976) and ‘The Irishman’ (‘The Irishman’) (2019), while Leonardo Di Caprio starred, among others, in films such as ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ (‘The Wolf of Wall Street’) (2013), ‘The Departed’ (‘The Departed’) (2006) or ‘The Aviator’ (2004).

The cast also includes the American actress of Native American descent from the Blackfoot and Nez Perce tribes, lily gladstone (‘Two Eyes’, 2020), and together with De Niro and DiCaprio he monopolizes most of the scenes in the short preview offered by Apple TV. DiCaprio will play Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of William Hale (De Niro) a powerful local rancher who becomes involved in the Osage Nation murders and who is the husband of Mollie, an indigenous woman played by Gladstone. Another of the characters in the story is Tom White, who is played by the actor Jesse Plamons, the lead FBI agent investigating the murders.
