Lina Medina was born in Peru in 1933. She grew up in a poor family with eight siblings. She found out about the pregnancy during a visit to the doctor. Her mother decided to take her there because she noticed that her stomach was swollen and the swelling was not going away. The first diagnosis was a tumor. It is hard to imagine the surprise of both the doctor and the mother and daughter when it turned out that what is in Lina’s belly is a baby. The patient was then seven months pregnant.

Little Gerardo was brought up as the brother of Lina Medina for 10 years. It wasn’t until he was a little older that he learned the truth. Unfortunately, he was not allowed to live as long as his mother. He died at the age of 40 due to a disease affecting the bone marrow.
