Slowthai, or actually Tyron Frampton, is a rapper from Northampton who debuted on the British music market in 2016 with the single “Jiggle”. Since then, he has gained a reputation as one of the most interesting young voices in the UK, and his nonchalant image is also noteworthy – messy tattoos, a crew-neck haircut and uncompromising attitude that has been the cause of many scandals. He released his debut album “Nothing Great About Britain” in 2019 and managed to break into the top ten of the UK Albums Chart, and was also nominated for the Mercury Prize.
A 24-year-old slowthai has been accused of rape
As reported by the British “”, the rapper has just appeared in court on charges of rape he allegedly committed in 2021 in Oxford. On May 15, he attended the first remote court hearing on the case to confirm his personal details. Prosecution lawyer Adam Yar Khan reportedly told the judges that the rape charge was an indictable offense and that the case had to be heard in the Crown Court.
Frampton was released on bail to appear at Oxford Crown Court on June 16. However, he has already decided to speak out on the matter via social media. He vehemently denies the allegations against him:
I categorically deny these accusations. I am innocent and I am sure my name will be cleared. Until then, I will do my best to bring this matter to a swift and fair conclusion. I also ask fans not to comment on it, and to respect the process and my family’s privacy.
The rapper released his third album in March. “UGLY”. Its leitmotif is the irony of life, and the premiere of the album was preceded by the release of the singles “Selfish” and “Feel Good”. On the album itself we can hear many artists from different musical worlds. The artist also performed in Poland last year during the Fest Festival in Chorzów, and one of his most popular songs is “feel away”, which he recorded in 2021 with singer James Blak and producer duo Mount Kimble.
