Weronika Anna Marczak’s literary debut met with great interest, primarily from young readers (but not only, although it is young adult literature). The first part of “The Monet Family” was released in October 2022 and within a few months the author managed to publish the next three parts (the second volume is divided into two) and received the statuette for the Writer of the Year 2022 during the Empik Bestsellers gala. Let us note, however, that it was last autumn that the history of the Monet Family really began, so there is no rush here.
What is it about the Monet Family that attracts so much?
At the moment, on Empik’s TOP100 list, Weronika Anna Marczak occupies the first two places (“Perełka” first, the previous part of the series second). There was a moment when “The Monet Family” had the whole podium, but now all the author’s books are in the top ten best sellers on the web – also in sixth and seventh place. In the Taniaksiązka.pl network, the Monets also rule – here they occupy the first four positions in the ranking of bestsellers. And when it comes to the list of trends of the Lubimyczytac.pl website, Marczak was only ahead of Remigiusz Mróz with a new novel in April.
Of course, we will not avoid patterns here – in “The Monet Family” we have a teenage heroine, a bit of mystery and danger, but kept in check (the books are intended for readers 16+ from the second volume) and romantic elements (although here definitely in the background). Weapons may appear in the Monet family, but – as in many titles of this genre – the main feelings that the author wants to evoke are warmth, comfort, a sense of security.
Weronika Anna Marczak first started writing on Wattpad, where she gained a large group of fans. The story of teenage Hailie, who loses her mother and grandmother in an accident and ends up on another continent to the home of five older brothers she had no idea about, has just begun online. There, Marczak creates a continuation, carefully listening to the readers’ comments (and readers too). This is certainly one of the reasons why the series has been such a huge success. The style in which Marczak writes is certainly different. Young adult novels are on a really different level, these are enjoyable to read. In addition, the author claims that she is simply fulfilling her dreams.
During last year’s book fair, wherever she appeared, she was one of the most crowded writers. She has nearly 77,000 followers on Instagram. users, and on Tik Tok over 181 thousand. And not only teenage girls, but also other people, including the author of this text, waiting to read the latest installment of the series. “Welcome to the family, pearls” – welcomes Marczak to his profile. And under #rodzinamonet you can find hundreds of reels and posts of committed fans of the novel, sighing at individual Monet brothers and discussing which one is the coolest, and even checking whether the main character grows with age on the covers.

The Monet family is a story about family, but also, as Marczak emphasized in an interview with Gazeta.pl, which we remind you of (video in this text), about the transformation of a shy girl into a self-confident woman. In the third volume, Hailie Monet no longer resembles much of the spoiled girl she was at the beginning. In the announcement of “Pearls” you can read: “The biggest change, Hailie Monet, I see in your eyes. You can see strength and ambition in them. You are no longer that little, lost and intimidated girl. Something has changed.” She will use her position and money more and more boldly. “Put in a golden cage, she discovered that it is worth slipping between the rungs from time to time,” writes the publisher, but it must be remembered that “some privileges come at a very high price.” So far, “Treasure”, two volumes of “Królewny” and “Perełka” have been published. And it’s not over yet.
Marczak claims that she did not plan to shoot her books into fashion, but she definitely succeeded. It is true that Mróz is still the highest earner last year, but popular crime fiction or children’s literature is quickly being followed by youth literature. According to the Wprost ranking, the top ten highest-paid writers include: a student whose young adult novels sell phenomenally – Katarzyna Barańska is known to her readers as PS Herytiera or Pizgacz. Marczak has not yet made it to the top ten of 2022, but it looks like it’s only a matter of time.
