Loreen is a Swedish singer of Moroccan-Berber origin born in Akersberg. She gained notoriety in 2011 during the Melodifestivalen competition, during which national qualifiers were held. Although Loreen did not win the pre-selection, her single “My Heart is Refusing Me” sold over 80,000 copies in Sweden and was certified double platinum.
Loreen has already won Eurovision twice. She made her screen debut in Swedish Idol
A year after losing to Erik Saade in the Swedish qualifiers for the international competition, the artist applied for pre-selection again. In 2012, she not only won the local competition, but also became the winner of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Euphoria”. She repeated the success 11 years later when she won a diamond microphone for the song “Tattoo”, which she performed in Liverpool.
After Loreen won Eurovision 2023, fans of the artist reminded the audience that the artist began her adventure with music even earlier. Before she entered the national preselection for Eurovision, she tried her hand at a well-known talent show. In 2004, she took part in the first Swedish edition of “Idol”.
Loreen was only 20 years old at the time, but she already showed great awareness of her talent and had excellent voice control. In the competition, she took a high, fourth place and was noticed by publishers. Shortly after the program ended, she signed a contract with the Swedish branch of Warner Records.
On the web, you can easily find recordings from “Idol”, in which the artist took part 19 years ago. At the casting for the show, Loreen is unrecognizable. Were it not for the familiar voice, it would be hard to believe it was the same person. During the auditions for the well-known talent show, the singer performed the song “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys and delighted the judges.
