Discounts for seniors over 70. Free Passport
many people are aware that some groups of citizens can get a passport with a 50% discount for issuing the document, not everyone knows that after the age of 70, this service is completely free. In addition, no fees are charged for:
- persons residing in social welfare homes or care facilities or receiving social assistance in the form of permanent benefits, if the trip abroad takes place for long-term treatment or in connection with the need to undergo surgery;
- designated for service abroad, with the exception of professional soldiers;
- persons who have applied for a passport replacement due to a technical defect in the document or incorrect personalization.
Reduced rail travel and free public transport. How to use them?
Seniors have a chance to take advantage of a 37% discount twice a year on a 2nd class journey on a PKP, TLK and express train. However, they should be prepared for the fact that during the journey they will be asked to show a certificate entitling them to travel, issued, for example, by a local unit of the Polish Association of Pensioners, Pensioners and Invalides. After turning 70, seniors in many cities can also take advantage of free public transport travel, however, setting the rules and discounts belongs to local authorities, which is why they do not apply in every city. The service can be used e.g. in: Kraków, Wrocław, Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź, Gdynia and Gdańsk. However, each time a document with a photo confirming the age of the traveler must be presented.
RTV subscription discount. These seniors won’t pay a penny
Seniors who are over 60 and receive a pension in the amount not exceeding 50% of the average monthly salary have a chance to be exempted from the RTV license fee. The same applies to people over 75. In these cases, a document entitling to exemption from the fee and a relevant statement, which is available on the website, should be presented to the Polish Post office
