The single was released on January 17, 2023 and won the local qualifiers for the competition. As Käärijä himself said, the strength of him and his song is not in exceptional skills, but in originality. “UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu – a music competition organized by the Finnish public broadcaster – editor’s note) has never heard such a song before and has not seen such a performance, you can go far, even if you are not the most talented singer or rapper” – quoted the Finnish artist Helsingin Sanomat portal.
Due to the fact that Käärijä decided to sing at Eurovision 2023 in his native language, the lyrics of “Cha Cha Cha” were understood by far fewer listeners than if he translated the words into English.
