Many Colombians were already in high spirits during the concert of Alicia Keys in the Movistar Arena in Bogotá, on the night of Thursday, May 11. Until, much to the surprise of her fans, the American singer-songwriter and pianist decided to share the stage with two beloved Latin superstars, none other than Karol G and Goyo.

Goyo started the concert at 8 pm and thrilled the audience with his songs. The 40-year-old Condoto resident also honored Shakira with a re-arranged version of “Anthology.”

An hour and ten minutes later, Alicia Keys took the stage in her first concert in Colombia. The New Yorker wore a shiny black hooded jumpsuit and paired the look with a bright pink jacket.

After greeting concertgoers in Spanish, Keys began her set singing Nat King Cole and Truth Without Love. The 42-year-old performer said she was looking forward to singing in the country. “I’m very excited to be here with you tonight, I’ve been waiting for this moment. I want to thank you for your energy tonight,” he told the audience.

The Alicia Keys World Tour pays tribute to her friend, teacher and iconic artist, Prince. Adorned with purple lights, a nod to the late artist, Alicia sang fan favorites including The Element of Freedom, The Diary of Alicia Keys, Keys II, Here and Songs in A Minor.

He also played his Spanish version of Calma by Pedro Capó and Buscando el paraíso by Alejandro Sanz. Alicia honored the Latin American language and music by incorporating tunes from other artists, such as J Balvin’s Mi Gente.

The evening became even more magical when he sang Empire State of Mind, a hymn to his hometown, which caused euphoria among the fans.

The same euphoria arose as the singer finished Girl on Fire, Superwoman and “Fallin”, presenting what she described as “the big surprise of the evening”, adding: “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my sister, Karol G.”

Immediately afterwards, Karol G’s last song, “Mañana Será Bonito”, started playing, later interrupted by the opening notes of “No one”. Alicia Keys and Karol performed together in English and Spanish.

Visibly moved by the moment, the 32-year-old from Medellin told Alicia that Colombia loved her and encouraged the audience to applaud her. Karol also thanked the pianist for inviting her to perform and fulfilling the dream of singing by her side. When Karol G was very young, she covered Keys’ favorite songs.

Keys ended the show with “If I Ain’t Got You” and seated the 14,000 in attendance in the chorus.

This Alicia Keys tour of Latin America ends in Mexico, with two shows scheduled for May 14 and 17. The fifteen-time Grammy Award winner continues with the ‘Keys to the Summer Tour’.
