Euskaraz irakurri: “Year of the Shark” film luzeak irabazi du FANT zinema jaialdiaren 2023ko sari nagusia

The Jury of the 29th edition of the FANT Fantastic Film Festival has awarded the Best Film Award of this edition to “Year of the Shark”by French filmmakers Ludovic Boukherma and Zoran Boukherma, “for their insight in playing with cinematographic language in their rewriting of one of the horror film classics and for their delirious humour”.

The jury has been formed ernesto del riodirector of the ZINEBI Festival and the Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission; Iratxe Fresneda, teacher and filmmaker; and Martha Medina, film critic, screenwriter and short filmmaker.

As far as short films are concerned, the award for Best Short Film in the Official Selection has gone to “Mystic Tiger”by Marc Martínez, “for his audacity when it comes to picking up the traditions of the fantastic in an ingenious way and for knowing how to take advantage of the absurdity of everyday life”.

In addition, they have selected “embedded”, by Lle Godoy, for Best Basque Short Film. In his case, the jury highlighted “his ability to articulate with minimal resources a suggestive and organic fable due to the risky performance of its protagonist, who fills a story that insists on fleeing from convention with meaning.”

For its part, the Basque scriptwriters association Euskal Gidoigileak has considered that the title deserving of the Award for Best Feature Film Script in the Official Selection goes to “Rubikon” by Magdalena Lauristch, for “the intelligence of its premise, its handling of narrative rhythm and tension, and its use of the springs of science fiction to tell us a story as universal as it is humanist”.

The honorary award for Best Performance in Basque Short Films has gone to Anne Guisasolafor her performance in “Embedded”, by Lle Godoy.

The main Palmares will be screened this Saturday at Sala BBK; at 6:00 p.m., the Fantastic Panorama Section, and at 8:00 p.m., the award-winning titles in the Official Section. “Year of the Shark” will be screened with double subtitles, in Basque and Spanish.
