On April 26, 2023, in connection with the EU directive “work life banality”, significant changes to the Labor Code entered into force. Parents who were receiving the benefit on April 26 should submit a recalculation. In this way, they can count on an increase in the amount they receive. If they do not do so by May 17, they will miss the increase. The same applies to people who applied for the benefit before April 26, but have not yet collected it. Otherwise, they will receive the benefit in the amount calculated before the changes. The application should be submitted to the benefit payer, i.e. the employer or principal, or directly to ZUS. After May 17, it will no longer be possible to submit applications for recalculation, which means that the benefit will be paid in the current amount.
