The Zea Mays group will receive the Adarra award

The Bilbao rock group Zea Mays will receive the 2023 Adarra Saria award, which is awarded by the San Sebastán City Council and Donostia Kultura, as decided by an advisory committee made up of the journalist Juan González Andrés, the musician Sara Zozaya and the technician from the department of Music by Donostia Kultura Esther Fernandino.
Adarra Saria was created in 2014 “with the aim of annually recognizing the work of an artist who, in the field of Euskal Musika, has developed or is developing a career of special relevance and influence”, and they have received Until now Mikel Laboa, Ruper Ordorika, Benito Lertxundi, Fermin Muguruza, Anari, Berri Txarrak, Kepa Junkera, Amaia Zubiria and Joseba Tapia.
According to the jury, “Zea Mays has maintained very high levels of quality and success throughout its 26-year musical career. A total of eleven albums illustrate the trajectory of a group that must be counted among the most influential in Basque rock and among the most recognized and appreciated outside the Basque Country”.
The group will receive its award on June 21, symbolized by a sculpture by Marijose Rekalde, on the stage of the Victoria Eugenia theater, and will then offer a concert “accompanied by a large group of collaborators.”
Tickets for this concert will go on sale on May 15 at a price of 25 euros, at the Victoria Eugenia and Teatro Principal ticket offices, as well as on the Donostia Kultura website.
