This year is the third edition of the Cinemaquil Short Film Festival in the cinema mz14. Until May 25, the festival receives free short films with a theme, which the filmmakers want to make part of this festival.

The organizers describe Cinemaquil as a projection and conversation space with a purpose “To promote the visibility, dialogue and debate of various works by Ecuadorian filmmakers and Ecuadorians from around the world.”

The founder and producer, Ella Duarte, took the initiative in 2019, as there are few exhibition venues for the short film format in the country from his perspective. Duarte indicates in a statement that this edition is being worked on with students from different universities. “Creating a diverse space that allows us to reach beyond the imaginary lines that separate us.”

The short films that have been submitted they must not be less than 3 minutes in length nor exceed the 20-minute limit, indicates the organization.
