However, when she did not return home, the family became concerned and decided to look for her in the area. Zyta was found by her mother only the next day.

Zyta lived with her aunt in Poznań, but she tried to visit her hometown regularly. She also came for Easter, and on Sunday around 5 pm her boyfriend, Maciej, was to join her. When he arrived at the place, and Zyta still did not return home, the family decided to look for her in the area. One of the neighbors said she saw her around 3:00 p.m. as she walked towards the forest. The search for the Michalskis ended only the next day, when the body of the murdered girl was found by her mother.

When the investigation was taken over by the X-Files, the Zyta case became loud again in the media. In 2019, a witness came to the police who claimed to know who killed the 20-year-old. The police took the material from the man indicated by the witness and it turned out that it was consistent with the one taken in 1994. The perpetrator turned out to be Waldemar B., who lived in the same village all the time and started a family. Years later, the defendant’s sister admitted that on the day of Zyta’s murder, his brother came home with numerous scratches. Why did Waldemar B. kill? The judge quoted by said that the defendant admitted that the reason for the murder was frivolous. Zita was about to cut him off, which annoyed him so much that he took a stone and hit her on the head five times. Waldemar B. apologized to the family of the murdered 20-year-old and asked for forgiveness.
