Eurovision 2023. Results of the first semi-final. Who will fight for victory?

After the first competition concert of Eurovision 2023, it turned out that the following countries made it to the finals: Croatia, Switzerland, Moldova, Finland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia and Norway.

The first semi-final of the 67th edition of Eurovision is behind us. On May 9, 2023, 15 performers performed and the competition was strong. Needless to say, the concert was packed with really strong proposals. The event began with the performance of one of this year’s favorites – the first to sing was the representative of Norway, Alessandra. She introduced viewers to the catchy song “Queen of the Kings”. Although the song is popular online and the singer is doing great on stage, it was quite ironically read as the last one on the list of performers who qualified for the final.

This year, the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place – the plebiscite has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records since 2015 as “the longest broadcast annual music competition in history”. In 2023, the event is held under the slogan “United by music”, and musical representations of 37 different countries take part in the fun. There was no representative from North Macedonia, and broadcasters from Bulgaria and Montenegro resigned from the competition due to the energy crisis. As part of the order introduced in 2008, two qualifying concerts are held before the final. Viewers from all over Europe can vote for their favorites and decide who gets to the finals. Traditionally, the first performances are presented on the Tuesday preceding the end of the plebiscite, and the next round falls on Thursday. The final in 2023 is Saturday, May 13.

In the main competition, places are guaranteed to the countries from the so-called “Big Five”, i.e. Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Great Britain. After the first semi-final, it is already known that musicians from Croatia, Switzerland, Moldova, Finland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia and Norway will perform with them. Polish representative Blanka will present herself to the international audience only on Thursday, May 11. She will sing the song “Solo”, and will compete with performers representing Armenia, Cyprus, Romania, Denmark, Belgium, Iceland, Greece, Estonia, Albania, Australia, Austria, Lithuania, San Marino, Slovenia and Georgia for promotion to the finals.
