An unusual incident took place in one of the hospitals in Belgrade. The nurse who helped during the patient’s delivery broadcast the activities on TikTok. The woman claims that she did not know that she was recording the birth. About 200 people watched the recording in real time.

An unusual situation occurred in the maternity ward on April 25. About 200 people watched the broadcast made available by the nurse. According to the portal, the viewers contacted the local media with information about the violation of the privacy of the giving birth patient. Hospital representatives condemned the nurse’s actions and suspended her from her duties. The woman now faces disciplinary action.

The portal “Daily Mirror” recalled the words of the spokesman of the hospital, who gave a statement to the local media. “We would like to thank everyone who brought this kind of incident to our attention in a timely manner so that we can react quickly and take whatever action is necessary to ensure that something like this never happens again.”

The use of mobile phones is prohibited in the maternity ward and operating rooms of the hospital. It is not known whether the woman whose birth was broadcast gave her consent, but the nurse admitted she had no idea she was sharing the recording in real time. The woman said it happened “inadvertently”. “During the night shift, we all know that the use of mobile phones is prohibited, but when we were called for an emergency caesarean section, I just left my phone on the glove shelf, unaware that the camera was on and was live streaming on TikTok,” she said. Other hospital employees present in the room probably had no idea about the incident, in which they were also participants. – I apologize to the patient whose privacy was violated, the patient’s family and the general public. (…) I am very sorry that a live broadcast was created, because my activities on Tik Tok were mainly focused on my family, friends and educational content, which in none of the videos contained personal information or was contrary to medical ethics.
