A ceremonial screening of the production of “When you’re done saving the world” took place on April 29 at the Kijów Cinema in Krakow.

On the occasion of his stay in our country, the artist finally had the opportunity to give interviews directly to the Polish media. In an interview with a station journalist, he confessed that he had Polish roots. As it turns out, Jesse Eisenberg’s maternal great-grandmother was born in Krasnystaw, while one of his paternal great-grandfathers, Sam Eisenberg, also came from our country. He also admitted that he feels emotionally attached to Polish culture and tradition, despite the fact that he was born in New York.

“I have very strong ties to Poland. My family comes from Krasnystaw, between Lublin and Zamość. My grandfather’s family lived there. They left this place in 1918. But some of my relatives who survived the war in cellars in Lviv later lived in Szczecin, when it was annexed to Poland,” he told Polsat News in an interview.

He also revealed that his last relative who lived in our country died recently. “Until last year, I had a family in Poland. Unfortunately, my relative died from COVID. She was an amazing woman who survived the war, survived many tragedies. She was a truly heroic person to me. I wrote a play about her.”
