Halina Bober lives in Będzin in the Silesian Voivodship. For 50 years, she has been living in a private flat, which may soon be auctioned off because the senior woman is in arrears with her payments. The bailiff who helped the 85-year-old woman and intervened with the housing cooperative turned out to be a godsend.

The story was publicized in the “” program on the Polsat News channel. The woman admitted that she had not had an easy life. As a child, together with her parents and brother, she was exiled to Siberia. As he recalls, they could not take anything with them and, as they stood, they were thrown into the wagons. And although after the war she met the love of her life, recently fate has not spared her problems.

She lived in an apartment for 50 years and now faces eviction. “I’ll take my own life, but I won’t be thrown out of here”

When the war ended, the woman found love and married Edmund Beaver, who fell ill 13 years ago. To help her husband in his treatment, Halina took loans from parabanks. The man died, and the woman is still left with debts that she has to pay off. She found out about some of the loans she had taken out only after his death. As she admitted in the program, after paying all the arrears, she has PLN 300 to live on. She owes money not only to parabanks, but also to a housing cooperative with which she owes PLN 33,000. The cooperative applied to settle the debt or evict the tenant. “I will take my own life, but I will not be thrown out of here,” said the 85-year-old.
