Anni-Frid Lyngstad was born in 1945 in Ballangen, Norway. She is the daughter of Norwegian Synni Lyngstad and Alfred Hasse, a German Wehrmacht non-commissioned officer stationed in Norway. She was conceived as part of a Nazi experiment that forced her to flee the country after the war ended. She was brought up by her grandmother, as her mother died two years after she was born.
