Fans chose the favorite of Eurovision 2023. Good news: Blanka is not the worst

Next week we will know the winner of this year’s Eurovision. Our country will be represented by Blanka with the song “Solo” and although there are more and more positive opinions about her performance, the important plebiscite shows something else. The results of the OGAE Poll 2023, an international plebiscite of fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, are already known. Poland is not in the lead.

The Polish representative will perform in the second semi-final, scheduled for May 11. And the artist herself is already in Liverpool, where this year’s show will take place. Before leaving for the UK, she was full of energy, saying: “I feel great. I feel ready, I feel calm. I hope everything goes as planned!” Currently, it is after the first rehearsals, from which recordings have been published. After seeing it, many changed their minds and count on Blanka’s greater success in the competition.

Blanka has made progress, but not everyone knows it yet

Eurovision is also an event that has a very large fanbase in many parts of the world. The OGAE plebiscite has been organized for 16 years, in which fans of the competition can vote for their favorites. Each country can award ratings on the Eurovision scale: 1-8, 10 and 12 points. So far, the winner of the OGAE plebiscite has also won the Eurovision Song Contest five times.

The revealed voting results do not look promising for Poland. This year, points were awarded by 42 branches of the OGAE Association, and our country was in the tail of the plebiscite. In first place – with the number of 423 points – was the representative of Sweden, Loreen with the song “Tattoo”. The artist had already had the opportunity to represent her country in the 2012 competition, winning then with the song “Euphoria”.

The second place went to Käärijä from Finland, who will perform with the song “Cha Cha Cha” – the voters gave him 394 points. France’s La Zarra was also on the podium with 302 points. Interestingly, as many as eight countries did not receive any points this year. Poland does not belong to this group, but our “Bejba” – as Blanka is humorously called by Internet users – received only two points. This means that it was ranked 25th, ex aequo with the national teams of Germany and Malta.
