American artist Stephen Sánchez gives voice to two rivals for the love of the same girl in the song Girl onlyreleased today under the Mercury Records (Republic Records) label. It is a continuation of the story told in Evangeline, theme launched just over a week ago. And Evangeline is the protagonist in the fictional universe he created for his music.
A Nashville native, Sánchez peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, reaching 1 billion global streams combined on Spotify with the hit of 2022 Until I found you.
Sánchez’s sound is characterized by nostalgia for a time when he was not even born yet. “I want people to feel like they’re part of the 1964 counterculture. when they hear this new era of music. A counterculture focused on love. Well I want to sow the theme of love in today’s world, a world that doesn’t have enough classic romance”.
So besides Evangeline he has created his two admirers, Trobador Sánchez and a mysterious love from the past; they both fight for it, but they do it through music. And while Troubador watches her from a distance and sings, and she waits, someone else approaches and returns Evangeline’s smile.
Sánchez went on tour this year and he played there for the first time Girl only, but just today he made his official debut. The writers of the single are Ian Fitchuk, Konrad Snyder, Stephen Day and Sanchez. And in the music video, there’s actress Frances O’Sullivan again.
Evangeline it already has tens of millions of reproductions to date, and the Grammys have commented that Sánchez “flies high”. It will kick off in Indianapolis in the coming months a new 32-performance tour which will take you to Los Angeles, Nashville, New York and Washington DC
