It is unusual for triplets to be born, and even more so that all three share the same passion for art and are part of a musical group. In that sense, Jean Paul, Jean Carlos and Jean Luis Ayala, 23-year-old Puerto Rican triplets and members of the urban group Thri GZ, say they are very lucky.

For them, being brothers is an advantage, as many artists come together to develop musical projects and have to build a new relationship; but they are not, because they are already family, which facilitates the creation processes and other details of forming a band.

They were born in January of the year 2000 and have the peculiarity of being the first triplets born in Puerto Rico in that year. They started their process as a musical group in 2021 and have since released six songs; the last wash Quick breakreleased on March 30, which will be part of the group’s first EP.

In Quick breaksings the triplets to couples who have decided to break up the relationship “quickly” instead of ending the band permanently. The song is available on the digital platforms of stream Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal and Apple Music. The video, directed by themselves, is available on YouTube.

“The fact that the three of us liked the same thing and that we are passionate about it the way we are passionate about it is a blessing. Almost everyone in the genre is friends and then family. We are already family; that gives us an advantage,” says Jean Carlos, who was the first of the three brothers to show an aptitude for music.

However, the talent is well divided among the trio: they all compose the songs, and they constantly switch roles in the production of their songs. “We are quite versatile in that sense. I don’t feel the burden,” says Jean Paul.

Among their influences, they cite urban artists such as Arcángel and De La Ghetto. In addition, the brothers, influenced by their father, also admire singer-songwriters such as Elton John, Michael Jackson and the band The Police. “We don’t try to pigeonhole ourselves; we are quite open,” says Jean Paul.

They find it difficult to express the experience of growing up as triplets. When they have to try to explain it, they describe it as something “difficult to explain” because they’ve lived that way all their lives. For her parents, however, having triplets came as a surprise.

Cuenca singer Alex Ponce released his first album, ‘Ser Humano’

“It was an explosion for them. Our mother already had two other children, and suddenly three stand out (…). Overall, we were a blessing to them, and part of our goal is to give them more than what they gave us,” says Jean Luis. “Part of what our music is was partly because of their upbringing. There was lots of love.”

His goal for this 2023 is to come out of the shell a little bit. They want to finish compiling a repertoire of songs and consolidate them on their first album to consolidate their live act.
