Doda’s newest single is about fighting depression. After its release, she announced the end of her career

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, this year’s Gala of Popular Music and Jazz – Fryderyki took place. The most important music awards in Poland could be attended while sitting in the Arena Gliwice stands, but most of those interested had to console themselves with the broadcast on TV.

Doda says that the time will come for Fryderyk, but also announces the end of his career

This year, in the pop album of the year category, the following albums were nominated: “Twenty Years” by Dawid Podsiadło, “Aquaria” by Doda, “Poświat Suplement” by Natalia Szroeder, “Uczta” by sanah and “Złoto” by Mroza. The statuette was awarded to the last album from the above, and after the announcement of the results, Doda’s fans did not hide their dissatisfaction with such a verdict. The artist addressed them in a special statement, in which she said that there are still many reasons to be happy:

Beloved, wipe your tears. Don’t attack the Fryderyki Festival and Mróz, his album is great. For me, just being in the top 5 of the best albums of the year is a sufficient distinction. This is a small step for Doda, but a huge one for the industry. Let’s appreciate it, after 20 years!

But it was the next part of the artist’s statement that aroused the most emotions in everyone. It turns out that Doda is already thinking about ending his musical career:

I’m going to finish my career after the next album, so Fryderyk will definitely be mine for the rest

Later, she asked her followers what they thought about her latest music video for the song “I will dance with the angels”, which is the fifth single from the album “Aquaria”. Its premiere took place on the same day as Fryderyk and within two days it has already been played over 300,000 times. In the description under the music video, we can read that this song is about fighting depression. The artist herself mentioned in interviews that she was facing this disease and was undergoing therapy.
