The night of April 22 is not only about the famous repertoire of the Spaniards Alejandro Sanz, main artist of the event, but there will be an opening show of Ecuadorian artists who will sing under the name: An Ecuadorian voice, a movement of local artists from different musical genres and generations united in one band and eager to show the world the talent they carry within them.

All those who are part of this initiative are independent musicians who have come together to promote the union between artists. The idea is to “promote the ideal of sharing among musicians in the medium rather than competing. We are an artistic collective that does not try to envy or be petty what the other is doing. We deal with the message of sharing the music, all the performances we have together and enjoy it,” says the drummer Megan WongMember of An Ecuadorian voice.

In 2022, the idea arose to make music together, separate from their personal careers. The first opportunity, which motivated them to meet, was a tribute to them Taylor Hawkinsdrummer from Foo Fighters who died on March 25 of that year.

Daniel Betancourth, Álex Eugenio, Toño Cepeda, Juan Carlos Coronel, Bastian Napolitano, Diego Spotorno, Chimo Solórzano and more local artists added a total of 20 musicians who founded with this presentation they gave at the Teatro Centro de Arte, the musical movement.

“We are in Ecuador, a country so small that it is worth it for us musicians to be a close circle, that we all know each other, that we have the opportunity to share stages together,” he adds up to it. It had been a month since he heard about this opportunity and ever since An Ecuadorian voice He has been practicing songs written by the group. They will have the chance to sing four songs, some of which were written a few months ago and others that will premiere at the musical event on Saturday.

Her music has an intention, says the Guayaquil woman. “They reflect the desire to reach people with a message, want to shout, want to speak, want to talk… We are people who want to tell them: ‘we are here to do what we love and that is what we are going to do ‘. do to deliver today’”, he says.

The songs they will sing are Hello music, come on Candy Canela, if it doesn’t add, it doesn’t subtract and you want to scream, the latter premiered on Tuesday, April 18 and is available on Spotify and YouTube. The other themes will be shown to the public for the first time on Saturday evening.

On this occasion, several of the artists mentioned above and others will take the stage, but not all of them will sing at the same time. Wong He explains that since there are quite a few of them, the songs do not have the participation of all musicians, but they rotate and present their creations in turn. The same thing happened when they composed the melodies; There were people who got more involved with certain arrangements than others, but in the end every song has a contribution from each of them, which makes it special to share them with the audience.
