Former Disney princess: below the “magic number”, you get reprimanded. You leave after four

On the day you start work, you have to look exactly right at the casting. Your weight is checked every 8 months. When creepy daddies whisper dirty things in your ear, all you can do is respond politely and smile. This is what working in the most fabulous place in the world looks like.

Hunter Haag is a former employee of the Walt Disney World Resort in California. She worked there for 6 years and finally decided to reveal what her work, duties and tasks looked like. Everyone who came to the park, regardless of age, had a great time, saw smiling faces, fairy-tale characters and felt like a small child. The life of an employee is far from fairy-tale imaginations. And behind his smile can hide many bad experiences.

The first step is casting

It’s not that easy to be a Disney princess. First you need to go to the casting. You have to come to the audition, you stand with a hundred different other women, and the management just looks at you. If you win, you win and start working. You absolutely must not forget that on the first day of your job you must look exactly the same as on the day of the casting. Piercings, tattoos, bad tan, acne, painted nails or overly chubby arms are not allowed. From the day you start your job, you also have to be careful about what you post online. You can’t talk about your job. The company controls social media and moderates comments.

“Rapunzel’s wig made me suffer from neck pain.”

The Disney Princess training lasts 4 days. You learn how to behave, how to apply make-up and observe the work of others. If your eye color is different from the princess you are playing, you must wear contact lenses. When you spend several hours a week, they are so heavy that your head and body hurt. Your job is to play with the kids, make up stories around your character, and greet 172 guests an hour. According to Disney, it’s a magic number. You get a special device with which you unclick the number of welcomed guests. If you fail, you get reprimanded. 4 reprimands and you’re fired. Hunter also mentions “dirty dads”. It’s not uncommon for princesses to take pictures with their babies while their dads lean in and whisper dirty things in their ears. You can’t react impulsively and firmly, you have to respond politely and keep smiling.

My friend was Sleeping Beauty. One of the dads put his hand under her dress. Fortunately, we wear several layers of petticoats underneath

Regardless of the weather, you must wear the outfit that belongs to the princess. Hunter confided that one day she was shivering from the cold, crying in the back room, but she wasn’t allowed to wear a coat. Every 8 months, the weight of the princesses is checked. They must be exactly the same as on the day of admission to work. Unfortunately, constant conflicts between employees do not make it easier to be in this environment.

Maybe everything looks like a fairy tale, but from the employee’s perspective, unfortunately, it is not.
