Wi¶niewski mentions his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest and assesses his cooperation with TVP harshly. “She paid for our stay, but…”

Ich Troje twice represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest. In an interview for Onet, Micha³ Wi¶niewski recalled those times and strongly assessed his cooperation with Telewizja Polska. It turns out that the station was not involved in promoting the musicians and their works before the competition.

For the first time at Eurovision, the band presented itself in 2003 with the song “Keine Grenzen – No borders”. The performance was liked by both the audience and the jurors, and they took 7th place. Three years later, they returned to the competition, but failed to repeat this success. On stage, they presented the song “Follow My Heart” and placed 11th in the semi-finals.

Wiśniewski comments on participation in Eurovision. He severely assesses cooperation with TVP

He recently gave an interview in which he reminisced about the times of Eurovision. He admitted that taking part in the competition was a great honor for the team, but cooperation with Telewizja Polska was not successful. He confessed that the station did not support them financially in promoting the competition songs. He also criticized the behavior of the longtime boss, Maria Makowska. The singer stated that the woman did not perform her duties professionally and treated business trips as a vacation. – TVP paid for our stay in Riga, of course, but they did not spend a penny on promoting the song. I don’t blame anyone for that, because I know that most Polish representatives do not receive such help. However, explain to me how they were supposed to help us in promotion, when Ms. Makowska, who dealt with Eurovision for years, did not even know English well. She wanted peace of mind. She treated the delegation as a holiday trip,” he said bitterly.

TVP does not want to win Eurovision? Wisniewski strongly comments

In the conversation, the singer admitted that he had been supporting his compatriots during the Eurovision Song Contest for years, and this year he would also keep his fingers crossed for the Polish representative, Blanka. However, he stated that he no longer wanted to take part in the pre-selections, but did not rule out that in the future he might represent another country in the competition. – I think that I would make a fool of myself by taking part in the next pre-selections. (…) Perhaps I will be able to start from another country. Why? Because I am a Pole and that would also be a great success for Poland, he argued.

Finally, the singer also referred to the speculation that TVP sends artists to the competition who are doomed to failure in advance. According to the musician, such allegations are ridiculous, and the choice of a representative is influenced by many different factors, not only vocal skills, but also stage presence or a catchy song. “It’s complete nonsense.” There is no need to look for the second bottom. I believe that the time has not yet come for Poland to win Eurovision and that’s it, he concluded.
