After the death of Xavier López “Chabel”, one of the first people to break the silence about his relationship with the artist was his unrecognized daughter, Lesly López.

The young woman, who did not go to her father’s funeral, said goodbye to him by sending him a flower arrangement for the vigil and indicated that she always wished she could talk to him again and apologize if he ever caused her any inconvenience, according to El Heraldo de México.

Lesly López is candid about her relationship with Chabel

In an interview on the YouTube channel Iradiable, Lesly López recalled a part of her childhood in which she admired “the friend of all children” only to find out at the age of five that he was her father.

Among her statements full of affection and devoid of resentment, the young woman states that she met Chabel in person at the age of eight, when she sat in the front row of his children’s program, then they would meet again in a play fiaca.

As reported by El Milenio, the actor started coming to his house frequently to bond with his daughter, who welcomed him with dance and song in an attempt to be like her father.

Lesly assured her mother that Xavier López was her only love and that she never married. My mom has been saying since I can remember: ‘Your dad was, is and will be the love of my life,’ she said about the mother who brought her into the world even when the host asked her to have an abortion.

Despite this, Chabelo offered financial help to mother and daughter years later, to which Lesly only asked her to support her mother with the cost of her education.

Distance between father and daughter

“We rarely saw each other because he was afraid of damaging his reputation,” said Chabel’s daughter, who explained that their distance increased when the media found out they were a family and began criticizing the comedian.

When she was between 17 and 18 years old, Lesly took legal action against her father to have him recognize her, although this never materialized.
