She moved to another state and shamed everyone who made her feel bad about her weight. Not only her figure changed – she got into her dream university, found love and got married. Thanks to the metamorphosis, today she lives in harmony with herself and won the fight against depression.
One decision changed everything
28-year-old Jaime Spiak from Saratoga County, New York, as a 22-year-old, changed her life with one rather radical decision: she decided to move out to escape the captors who insulted her for many times for deviating from the standards. At her peak, she weighed 350 pounds, which is over 158 kilograms. Pupils mercilessly abused her physically and mentally, which led to the development of disorders at the stage of primary education.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a weight problem. I was always a chubby kid, taller and bigger than my peers. I felt uncomfortable because of this. I especially remember PE class because I was slower than all the other kids. I was intimidated and called names. In high school, I weighed between 250 and 300 pounds. People would just come up to me and grab my double chin in the hallway.
Jaime told Yahoo. As a teenager, she was unable to deal with difficult emotions, so she resorted to self-harm and compulsive overeating.
My mental health has deteriorated greatly. I was suffering from depression and hated school so much. When I was 11, I was diagnosed with depression and took Prozac for eight years.
she recalled. The breakthrough came in the winter of 2015 when Jaime’s mother, Donna Spiak, decided to move to Norfolk, Virginia, 400 miles away, where her older sister, Jessica, already lived. Thus, the girl had a chance to start a new life. She also changed the university to Old Dominion.
Her biggest motivation is her partner
In November 2016, another crisis came – Jaime became seriously ill and underwent surgery to remove her gallbladder. A stay in the hospital and a long recovery period allowed her to lose 60 pounds, or about 27 kilograms, in 2 months and gave her the motivation to take care of her health. She changed her eating habits, started going for long evening walks and joined the gym. She managed to get rid of a total of 88 kilograms.

I used my illness as a turning point. I had to relearn how to eat, started with healthier options like yogurt and vegetables and from that point on I really changed my diet. What motivated me was that my clothes were getting looser and my sizes were getting smaller.
she said. However, changing the appearance is not everything. The girl graduated from her dream art studies – 3D graphics and met her beloved through a dating application. The man suffered from cystic fibrosis and underwent a double lung transplant. – It inspires me a lot. If he can be so active, fighting for breath, nothing will stop me, says Jaime. Today she is married.
At the beginning of my slimming adventure, I met my boyfriend and it was the first time a guy was really interested in me. I definitely have more confidence now. For the first time in my life, I can walk into a store without wondering if I will find something suitable. I don’t feel so uncomfortable in everyday life. Because of this, I became more sociable. Every evening we go for walks or bike trips, in the summer we swim, and in the winter we go skiing and snowboarding.
