After the “coronation chicken,” the famous poached chicken served at Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, Carlos and Camila released the recipe chosen for their big day on Monday: a spinach, broad bean, and tarragon quiche.

The king and queen, who will be crowned on May 6, “personally selected” the recipe for the cake, which appears on the royal family’s Twitter account.

Along with spinach, green beans and tarragon, it includes milk, cream, eggs and cheddar cheese.

It is a dish that is “easily adapted to different tastes and preferences”, they explained with a video of the chef preparing the recipe. “It can be eaten warm or cold with green salad and boiled new potatoes,” he adds.

“Coronation quiche encourages you to partake in great food” at neighborhood parties to be held over the weekend of the ceremony, it said on Twitter.

Carlos III (74), who has been advocating for ecology and environmental protection for decades, decided on a vegetarian recipe.

Chicken curry, to the taste of Elizabeth II

Will quiche be as successful as Elizabeth II’s “coronation chicken”? This poached chicken in a creamy curry sauce, served at Buckingham Palace during the coronation banquet in 1953, has since become a classic in British gastronomy.

Today it can be found as a ready meal in supermarkets, as a filling for sandwiches or in many variations in cookbooks.

Coronation of Carlos III. and his wife Camila will take place on Saturday, May 6 in Westminster Abbey, in the presence of about 2,000 guests.

It will be followed by a weekend of neighborhood celebrations and a concert at Windsor Castle in West London. Britons are also invited to take part in volunteering activities on Monday 8th, which will be a bank holiday. (AND)
