One could say that Ewa Chotomska has talent in her blood. The daughter of the famous writer for Wanda Chotomska followed in her footsteps. Over the years, she wrote books and song lyrics, as well as wrote scripts for the most popular programs. In one of them, she performed under the pseudonym Ciotka-Klotka, becoming one of the biggest stars of Polish television.
She has been involved in the creative industry since childhood. She later followed in her mother’s footsteps
Ewa Chotomska was born in 1951 in Warsaw. It was the fruit of the writer’s relationship with Jerzy Steinmetz. The couple separated after only five years, and the aspiring artist barely made ends meet, so she left her daughter in the care of her grandmother. Eventually, Ewa lived with her for the next 12 years. Due to the fact that Wanda was the screenwriter of the bedtime story “Jacek i Agatka”, the future writer often visited her mother on the set. It was then that she first wanted to tie her future with the art industry.
Soon after, Ewa also began to create. She wrote scripts for programs and created her first books for children. In the late 1970s, the writer was hired as a screenwriter for the “Tik-Tak” program. After a year, it was decided to revolutionize the format and instead of puppets, real actors performed. Then Chotomska created a duo with Andrzej Marek Grabowski as Ciotka-Klotka and Pan Tik-Tak. She appeared on TVP for the next 17 years.
Ciotka-Klotka created many programs for children. This year it will celebrate its 72nd birthday
Ewa Chotomska enjoyed the unflagging sympathy of viewers for many years. Particular attention was drawn to her colorful, extravagant creations, thanks to which the nickname Polish Mary Poppins stuck to her. Aunt Klotka, a bit like Mary Poppins, was a crazy nanny, full of fantasy, but at the same time concrete and essential. A bit like me. To this day, my family reminds me of my fundamentalism — in an interview for Dagmara Romanowska.
When the “Tik-Tak” program was taken off the air, Chotomska continued her career. She created songs such as “Jedyneczka” or “Alarm clock”, and also initiated the creation of the children’s band “Fasolki”, for which she still writes songs. One of the most popular songs she has created are “Szczotka, pasta” and “Witaminki dla boy i girl’s”. This year, Ewa Chotomska will celebrate her 72nd birthday and is currently focusing on literary work. Her books “1001 Dreams” and “Red Wolf” are very popular on the publishing market.
