Do you use fabric softener? You may be making a serious mistake. It has other uses

Fabric softener is a favorite of all who want their clothes to be fragrant and delicate. Using it, however, can bring not only positive results and destroy e.g. underwear. However, you don’t have to give it up completely. It has some non-standard uses that might come in handy in your daily cleanup.

Although we use fabric softeners and fabric softeners primarily out of concern for the condition of our clothes, using them can be counterproductive. Detergents of this type have a negative impact in particular on our – panties, tights, socks. What can they cause?

The negative effects were described by a well-known author

If you’ve noticed that your washed socks wear out faster and faster, get holes and pill, the fabric softener may be the culprit. The negative side of his actions was described by Cheryl Mendelson, a non-fiction writer and author of “Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House”, which has helped thousands of housewives. According to the author, the fabric softener leaves a special wax-like coating on the socks, which makes the fabric they are made of no longer absorb moisture and is less breathable. Therefore, they are easier to sweat, and at the same time they become more susceptible to damage and lose their original color faster.

However, liquids do harm not only to socks, but also to panties, tights, towels and bedding. They can become greasy and unpleasant to the touch, as well as flammable.

Fabric softener – other uses

If, despite the potential negative consequences, you do not want to part with the fabric softener, you can use it in a different way. It will be perfect as a cleaning agent in the fight against dirt on the shower and bathtub, dealing in particular with dried dirt. It also effectively eliminates dust – spraying the surface with a mixture of 1/4 cup of liquid and a glass of water will make it settle on the furniture more slowly.

it will also be useful for removing sticky hairspray stains – removing them will not be difficult when you spray the dirty place with a liquid mixed with water in a 1:2 ratio. You can also use the same mixture to clean carpets. Spraying it on a carpet covered with hair or pet hair will make it much easier to remove them. Artists will also like fabric softener – a few drops added to the water in which brushes are rinsed will remove dried paint, even one that has settled on it a long time ago.
