In the late 80s and early 90s, a four-member group called Locomía achieved popularity in Spain and Latin America. Today, one of the members of the electro-pop boy band recalls how he became a “zombie” after being forced to leave the group.
This Spanish group attracted attention with their rhythms, choreography, eccentric costumes and, of course, fans, until the first signs of dissent appeared in the 1990s.

In June 2022, the documentary film “Locomía, never danced soap opera” was premiered on Movistar Plus+, a story told by Xavier Font, the founder and one of the members of the group that included his brother Luis.

The first members of Locomija and the break between the Font brothers
In its first phase, Xavier Font, Luis Font, Gard Passchier and Manuel Arjona were part of the project. Together they had a vision of a group of fashion designers that suddenly became a famous music group.
After more than three decades have passed, Luis Font tells his version of what happened in Locomía, after his brother Xavier took him out for no reason.

– When he took me out of the group, my world collapsed, I didn’t do drugs until then, and that’s when I also started cocaine – admitted Luis in the show “Fiesta”, whose statements are broadcast by 20 minutes. – I didn’t deserve it – he added.
Then he remembered that he was a “very active guy” and that he “calmed down” only by consuming cocaine. “I had a very bad time. 27 years in the throes of depression,” he said, blaming his brother Xavier for this situation. “I stopped being a person to become a zombie,” he added.
Despite what he experienced and how “traumatic” it was for Luis Font to be removed from the project by his own brother, he said that he has no regrets because now that he feels recovered he wants to “enjoy the moment fully” and “evolve towards happiness”.

Xavier Font talks about the conflict with his brother Luis in Locomía
The Upperrs website quotes statements from Xavier Font about the situation his brother Luis is in and how they got along while they were part of Locomia.
“One day he gets angry, and the next day I get angry,” he said without going into the details that allow us to understand why there was a breakdown in the brothers’ relationship. Now he admits that he gets along well with 90% of the people who worked at Locomía, reports the agency.

Eventually, the eldest of the Font brothers lost control of the group and differences with their manager José Luis Gil became visible, which led them to a legal dispute over the ownership of the brand, which ended in Font’s favor.
Since then, new generations of Locomija have appeared, but none have had as much success as the first. Understanding its history in these times leads to watching a documentary that consists of three episodes that tell the story of the band’s origin, rise and eventual disbandment. (AND)
