Basque theater faces the Max Awards with thirteen nominations

The Basque theater has thirteen nominations for the Max awards gala for the performing arts, which the Spanish General Society of Authors and Publishers will deliver this Monday, April 17, in Cádiz. The most nominated work is “El bosque”, by Mario Bermúdez Gil.
The Dramática Errante company from Bilbao, created by Ane Pikaza and María Goiricelaya, has been nominated for five Max Awards for its works “barren” and “Altsasu”. The first, an adaptation of the work by Federico García Lorca, could win the award for best adaptation (María Goiricelaya), best stage direction (María Goiricelaya) and best actress (Ane Pikaza).
For his part, “Altsasu”a work written based on the events that occurred in 2016 at the Koxka bar with the aim of “healing wounds, talking about forgiveness, reconciliation and coexistence”, has been nominated in the following sections: best theater show and best playwright. (Maria Goiricelaya).

the dance company Kukai, who maintains an old idyll with the Max family and has been awarded several times, is once again one step away from the awards this year with her show “Eta orain zer?”. On Monday it could be done with the awards for best dance show, best lighting design (David Bernués) and best musical composition for a stage show (Pascal Gaigne).
He is also nominated, in the stage direction category, Inaki Rikarte for his work in “Supernormales”, as well as the work “Zuhaitzak landatzen zituen gizona” from the Gorakada company, in the best show for children, youth or family audiences, and Martha Eguileoras best revelation author for “Borderland”.
Finally, “Sexberdinak”by Tanttaka Teatroa, competes for the award for the best production work, and Ikerne Gimenez for the best stage space design for “El cuaderno de Pitágoras”.
On Monday we will see, after the curtain falls, how many awards the Basque companies and professionals collect.
