Eight documentaries, eight fiction films and one animation make up the Official Selection of the San Sebastian Film and Human Rights Festival, which opens on April 21 and celebrates its two decades of history, in which it has resisted the ” temptation” to grow in favor of “qualitative solidity.
The program will open with “20,000 species of bees”, the award-winning debut feature by Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren, and will close on the 28th with the French film “Toi non plus tu n’as rien vu”, by Béatrice Pollet.
The Chilean documentary director and writer Carmen Castillo will be recognized this year with the competition prize during the opening gala of an edition that will address topics such as the right to abortion, universal justice, homelessness and the war in Ukraine.
The documentaries “Cabeza y corazón”, by Ainhoa Andraka and Zuri Goikoetxea, on the Spanish women’s wheelchair basketball team, and “Karpeta urdinak”, by Ander Iriarte, on torture, are together with “Tetuán”, by Iratxe Fresneda, other Basque representations at the festival, as well as the film “The good companies”.
