The wedding day should be a day that the young will remember with a smile on their face. Unfortunately, the reality is different. Often couples succumb to family pressure and organize an event to please everyone around them – putting their needs last. They take out loans, get into debt with their family and go to great lengths to make the wedding reception perfect. A reader wrote to us who would not make the same mistake twice.

In our families, everyone organized lavish weddings. It’s a tradition. I knew I wouldn’t run away from it either. And it happened: in less than a month it will all be over. We invited 320 people to the wedding, 250 will come. I’m not sure if we’ll end up with 150,000. zloty. We pay over PLN 70,000 for the plates alone at the wedding and after-party. In addition, the band and decorations each cost 9,000. PLN, cameraman 11 thousand. and bartender – 5. Alcohol cost us over 12 thousand. Not to mention the wedding dress, suit and all accessories.
In times of inflation, this is a considerable expense, especially since the prices of services booked even two years earlier have gone up a lot. In some cases it is even 100%. more. If I had to choose again whether to organize a wedding or to prepare a modest dinner for the family, I would think twice. It turns out that the money we spend one night could be used as our own contribution to the apartment.
I hope that, as is usually the case in my area, at least 80 percent. the wedding will return. Everyone gives enough in the envelope so that the young ones have a good start. My brother got married last year and he got his full refund. He said that the smallest envelope he got from the couple was PLN 800. May it be the same in my case.
