In 1969, 9-year-old Inger Nilsson made her debut with the main role in the series “Pippi Langstrump” (in Poland also known as “Pippi Pończoszanka”). The production was based on Astrid Lindgren’s novel of the same title. The adventures of a slightly crazy girl met with an enthusiastic response from both small and adult viewers. In the same year, two about the red-haired heroine were made, “Pippi Langstrump” and “Pippi Langstrump. The Return of Pippi”, directed by Olee Hellbom.

On the wave of popularity of the series and , in 1970, two more parts of the series, “Pippi in Taka-Tuka Country” and “Pippi Langstrump. Pippi’s Escape”, were released on the cinema screen. Both productions gained equally great popularity and enjoyed the interest of fans.

After the memorable role of Pippi Longstocking, Inger Nilsson graduated from acting school and played in several other productions. She performed, among others in “Kajsa Kavat” or “Gripsholm Castle”. “Der Kommissar and das Meer”. Unfortunately, most identified her with the character she played as a child, so she decided to start working as a secretary. Although the actress remembers working on the production set well, she admits that the patch that stuck to her was tiring and hindered her further acting development. “I always tell everyone that I am Inger. How Inger feels and that I have Inger’s personality, not the character I was playing. People didn’t make it easy for me because they wanted me to be the Pippi they liked so much in one of the interviews.

Pippi Langstrump will turn 64 this year, and it will be 54 years since her film debut. Currently, Nilsson stars in the German-Swedish series “Der Kommissar und das Meer”, with which she has been associated since 2017.
