Magma was founded in 1996 by musicians associated with De Mono, Piotr Kubiaczyk and Dariusz Krupicz. The vocalist was 19-year-old Marcin Klimczak. The band decided to record a Polish version of the Algerian vocalist, Khaled. The original, recorded in French and Arabic-French, hit the charts in many European countries. This success was used by musicians from the band Outlandish, who recorded their version in 2002. In Poland, however, the one recorded by Magma a few years earlier made a real sensation.
But with success came trouble. In 2002, during the recordings for the third album, the band members disagreed over its concept to such an extent that the work was definitely stopped. Dariusz Krupicz left and Magma suspended its activities.

Vocalist Marcin Klimczak, after the breakup of the band, had different jobs. He was a bartender and founded an acting agency that searched for extras for Polish film and television productions. He has collaborated with with Janusz Morgenstern and Andrzej Wajda. He was also still involved in music. He composed and recorded his own songs. One of them was even on the album “Wyspiański Liberates”. Eventually he emigrated to Great Britain. In London he worked in construction. “I decided to leave because I needed money. I did it for a family that lives in Poland – he revealed in 2016 in an interview. – Fortunately, I have dealt with these problems. I am, I am alive, I am happy – he added.
Reactivation of the Magma team. Two bands but no album
In 2013, Dariusz Krupicz announced the reactivation of the band with a completely new line-up. Three years later, Marcin Klimczak and Piotr Kubiaczyk also reactivated their band, performing as Magma & Marcin Klimczak. In 2016, they released the single “Looking for happiness”, they also recorded a new version of the hit “Aicha”. Although both Magmas planned to release another album, none of them saw the light of day.
According to his Facebook profile, Marcin Klimczak is still touring with Magma, which was reactivated in 2016. – Life is different, for me it looked like this, that I was quite rebellious at the age of 18-19 and unfortunately, some situations overwhelmed me, some exceeded me – in an interview with Newseria Lifestyle.
