Wojciech Pijanowski became a television legend. It was thanks to him that “Wheel of Fortune” debuted on TVP, which has enjoyed unflagging popularity among viewers for many years. When he disappeared from the game show, speculation began about the reasons for his departure. The media assumed that addiction contributed to this, but the truth was completely different.
He was a star of Polish Television. He revolutionized entertainment programs
From the mid-1970s, Wojciech Pijanowski was associated with Telewizja Polska, where he took the position of editorial manager. It was he who was responsible for revolutionizing “Wielka Game”, which was the station’s leading program for a long time. As a host, he appeared in “Rebusy”, “Stowarzyszenie” or “Magij literaty”. He regretted that Polish formats are not something innovative, and are created only on the basis of those that are popular abroad. — I have a lot of unrealized ideas in my head and on my computer — in an interview for Wirtualne Media. He accomplished some of them. His original works include “The Collector”, “Who Will Win With Him” or “Family Skirmishes”.
He gained the greatest popularity in 1992, when he introduced “Wheel of Fortune” to television. The game show, popular abroad, quickly gained interest among the Polish audience as well. For three years, Pijanowski regularly appeared on the screen as a host, becoming one of the most recognizable faces of the station. After he disappeared, there were suggestions in the media that addiction was the cause. “I left not because I was getting drunk, as Wikipedia once elegantly reported, but because I had had enough. (…) I felt that I was starting to act like an automaton, and that’s not good, so it’s better to quit – he said many years later in an interview with Onet.
Wojciech Pijanowski is 71 years old. The presenter is still professionally active and implements his ideas
On November 1, 2023, Wojciech Pijanowski will be 72 years old. He is still professionally active and does not intend to slow down. Wojciech Pijanowski has many collaborations to his credit, e.g. with TV4, TV Puls or Tele 5. When he disappeared from the screens, he started directing and writing scripts for the program “The worst Polish driver”. He also co-created “Videooteki of an adult man” and co-hosted the radio program “Cheerful Gentlemen” on Radio Pomoca. In 2020, he started working on his own internet channel, but due to the pandemic, the project was pushed to the background.
A year ago, he informed in an interview about his next idea. He confessed then that he had started cooperation with Krzysztof Szewczyk, with whom he had once led numerous entertainment programs. “We talk very well. Krzysztof is a great guy and now we are preparing for a project together. You will be able to see us, listen to us and have fun with us. (…) we are going to modernity and, like young people, we are creating a channel on YouTube – he told Onet. The presenter is also working on his autobiography.
