News anchor ecuavisa Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros he shared on his Instagram profile a video of his followers’ reactions on the set a few minutes later announced his retirement from the world of news on April 6.
“This was the applause of my classmates ecuavisa after my announcement last night,” wrote Don Alfonso, who He turned 56 years old and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-serving host on air (received it in 2014).

Colleagues from news production lined up, clapped, congratulated and hugged Don Alfonso, who can be heard saying: “One is nothing without a team”. He announced yesterday that he is retiring at the best moment of his personal and professional relationships.
The 81-year-old communication specialist explained his decision by saying that it is time to give way to young journalists of the channel, in order to maintain and increase their prestige.
