The singer made her first television appearance at the age of five. In 1995, she was a participant in the program “From Kindergarten to Opole”, in which she performed a song from the repertoire of Krzysztof Krawczyk “Byle jest tak”. As a teenager, she studied at a music school, and in 2005 she took part in the fourth edition of the “Idol” program, where she was eliminated in the group stage.
In 2006, she recorded three songs for the album of the hip-hop group Ascetoholix “Adsum”, of which Liber was once a member. Thanks to this acquaintance, the artist soon became famous. In the summer of 2008, she released her first single “New Chances”, on which the rapper appeared as a guest. The music video was very often played by the now defunct VIVA Polska station, which translated into the growing popularity of the young singer. In autumn, together with Liber, she released her first studio album “Ona i him”, which also included such songs as “Mijamy się” or “Co z nami will”.

Sylwia’s fans had to wait another three years for new music, but thanks to the songs from the album “Dream about the future”, her career gained even more momentum. In the summer of 2011, the single “Little Things” appeared, which was the first single promoting the new album and very quickly became the most played song on Polish radio stations. The artist has been hailed as a star of pop music of the young generation.
Sylwia Grzeszczak – Small things
On October 11, 2011, the singer’s second album saw the light of day, and the album was certified platinum less than two weeks after its release. However, during those two weeks, she faced an unpleasant situation that could clip her wings. On October 16, she appeared as a special guest on Must Be The Music. After the performance, one of the jurors of the program, Adam Sztaba, loudly threw a biting sentence at the artist in the live program:
I wish you all that you don’t have to sing such a repertoire as the otherwise talented Sylwia Grzeszczyk
To this day, it is not known whether the composer deliberately misspelled the name of the artist. Two years later, Elżbieta Zapendowska, another juror from this program, spoke similar words about the singer’s music. However, the voice emission specialist noticed that Grzeszczak is very talented:
You scream and sing meaningless texts, and she is a very talented girl, only what she sings is doubtful – she said in an interview with Plejada
She clarified her opinion in December 2016 in an interview with:
Sylwia is an outstanding singer, an extremely musical person. So it’s a pity that she performs songs that do not match her conditions in terms of the level. In recent years, Polish pop has been dominated by lyrics that not only were written in incorrect Polish, but also usually talked about Marynia’s ass…
Sylwia Grzeszczak’s music has not evolved much over the years. In 2013, she released the album Composing Herself, and three years later, That Girl. Both albums were a huge success. For a long time, the artist did not react to unflattering opinions about her work, but in 2017, in an interview for “Pani” magazine, she decided to say what she thinks about it:
That was so many years ago… I have no problem with criticism as long as it’s constructive. Because if I do something wrong and someone points it out to me, then I can learn something from it. All other comments don’t bother me because I have more important things on my mind right now
Interestingly, in 2021, Grzeszczak herself sat on the jury in the twelfth edition of the TVP2 program “The Voice of Poland”. However, she did not stay there for long, because in the next edition she replaced Lanberry. The gossip media wrote at that time that the production was not satisfied with Sylwia Grzeszczak’s work. It was said that decision-makers might not be interested in her participation in the next edition of the show. In December 2021, in an interview with “Party”, she admitted that we would not see her in the new edition of the program, and the reason was the desire to create new music.
However, the singer has not released a new album for seven years. He regularly releases new singles, but none since “The Other Girl” turned out to be a big hit. The last song released by her is “About them, about you”, which promoted the documentary film “Ania” dedicated to Anna Przybylska.
