A serious accident with a Snow blower made us fear for our lives Jeremy Renner New Year’s Day. Fortunately, the actor who plays the mythical Marvel superhero Hawk Eye is recovering favorably and in two weeks he was able to leave the hospital. Now, more than 4 months after that fateful experience, Renner has affirmed that it was he who was at fault and has apologized to his family for giving him such a hard time.

The statements took place in the first interview he has given after the event, broadcast on Thursday on the Walt Disney Co.’s ABC network. The actor, who attended the appointment in a wheelchair, recounted how everything happened. He was driving the snowplow after using it to pull one of the family’s trucks out of the snow and onto the asphalt. It was at that moment when the machine began to skid on the icewhile his nephew, Alex, was finishing unhooking the chains that connected both vehicles.

Concerned for his nephew, Renner stuck one foot out to peer over at Alex, forgetting to set the parking brake, and lost his balance, falling out of the cab. To prevent the snowplow from crushing Alex, tried to get back into the vehicle with a jump, with such bad luck that he stepped on the (caterpillar) wheels and fell forward. The vehicle hit him breaking more than 30 bones, collapsing a lung and perforating his liver. Neighbors who cared for the 52-year-old actor said they found him with blood around him, shallow breathing and a crack in his skull.

“I made a mistake and I paid for it,” he confessed to ABC News journalist Diane Sawyer. When she woke up in the hospital, she tells her, apologized to his family making signs. “It was my fault,” Renner said. “I’m sorry my actions have caused you so much pain.”

Doctors used titanium rods and screws to repair the broken ribs and also placed metal in his legs and face to rebuild the eye socket. He still undergoes hours of daily therapy for his injuries, though, with effort, he’s already can walk with the help of a walker.
