Irvin Cartagena pleaded guilty to selling fentanyl-laced heroin to an actor Wire Michael K. Williams, which caused his deaththe US district attorney said Wednesday.
Cartagena “Selling Heroin with Fentanyl in Broad Daylight in New York” and “administered the lethal dose that killed Michael K. Williams,” said Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
A drug lord faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with the possibility of up to 40 years behind bars, after he signed a plea deal that said the drug he sold caused the actor’s death, it has been reported. afp.
Williams (54) was found dead in his apartment in New York, in September 2021. He died of “acute intoxication from the combined effects of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine,” the New York City medical examiner ruled.
Cartagena, aka Ojos verdes, was one of four men charged in February 2022 with conspiring to distribute the tainted heroin that killed Williams.

The drug trafficker was arrested in Puerto Rico earlier that month.the day before three other conspirators were arrested in Manhattan.
Fentanyl is an extremely powerful synthetic opioid, about 50 times stronger than heroin. The US Drug Enforcement Agency describes it as “the deadliest drug threat facing the country”.
