Most families have their own Christmas traditions. We usually spend Christmas with one or the other parents, but because of the house with a garden by the forest, we organized Easter at our home. For the last few years in a row, a week before Christmas, my husband and I flew with our tongues hanging out, shopping, cleaning, washing curtains and washing windows. This year, we’ve had enough. Of course, we invited some of the family, but on our own terms.
I didn’t clean the windows, and I ordered food. I also told everyone to prepare one dish that they would bring with them. I’m not going to rip my ass off for the holidays anymore. If the mother-in-law doesn’t like it, it’s hard. It’s her problem. Let me just tell you something… I’m sick of being a cleaner and a cook. Everyone always comes ready-made and only looks to eat for free. It’s over. This Christmas, I want to finally rest.
In my opinion, such sharing, for example, in the preparation of dishes, is the most appropriate. Because why does everything have to be on my head and my husband’s? The same goes for cleaning. I keep it clean every day, so basic Saturday cleaning is enough. After all, Christmas is not a health inspection to suddenly turn the house upside down because of two festive days. It’s only a few days until Christmas, and for the first time in a long time, I’m not tired just thinking about it.
