Father Sebastian Picur regularly posts on his social media profiles. Most often he answers questions from Internet users. Recently, a popular clergyman spoke about card reading. Many people may not like his opinion.

Father Sebastian Picur is active in social media. He has over 650,000 followers on TikTok. He currently serves at the St. John Paul II in Krosno. On the other hand, on social media, he usually answers questions about the Catholic religion. – The bishop gives me the green light for this kind of evangelization. He knows that he is very much needed today. Social media is a tool to reach people who are not present in the church every day. Due to the pandemic, people whose faith was not alive and deep no longer regularly attend church, he said in an interview with the Aleteia.org portal.

Is card reading a sin? The pastor has no doubts

Recently, a priest popular in social media faced a topic that arouses considerable controversy in the church environment. It’s about playing cards. One viewer asked if tarot is a sin. The priest recorded a special video with the answer to the question. – Card reading is a sin against the first commandment: You shall have no other gods before me, – informed the priest. – A person who uses such practices turns away from God and heads towards opposing (demonic) forces – he added.

Over 100,000 people have already watched the priest’s video within a few days. The topic is controversial, so many comments appeared under the post. “Card reading is bad, but listening to the prophecies from Medjugorje is ok…”, “What has God got to do with tarot? People, shake it off”, “And the pictures and statues that everyone prays to, are they ok?” – we can read in the comments section under the video.

“Astrology or tarot were not so explored by the older generations”

It’s no secret that in recent years many young people from Generation Z have become interested in tarot and astrology. – Our grandparents or parents usually turned to religion. We are running away from it more and more. Of course, not everyone. However, I can clearly see that a large part of young people are looking for some other spiritual path than religion. […] It seems to me that this is influenced, among other things, by the fact that astrology or tarot were not so explored by older generations. I think that we, like religious people, are looking for some explanation for our lives, we are looking for its meaning, she said.
