Joaquin Cortes recounts through his social networks the episode that has led him to be urgently admitted to a hospital where he is still hospitalized. The bailaor affirms that a few weeks ago he started not feeling well. “He had a chest cough, tiredness, headache…”, he explains.
Cortés acknowledges that “even so” he was “rehearsing without rest for weeks.” “I was able to dance in Madrid at the Theater and in Barcelona at the Liceu”. However, these symptoms that even his own company was unaware of, as he himself confirms, reached a point that led to his admission. “Some days ago, I was playing with my children and I already vanished. I arrived at the emergency room with very low blood oxygen saturation,” he narrates.
But, it is not the first episode that he has suffered in the last month. “A few days ago while taking my son Romeo to school, I started coughing and I got dazed while drivingI was scared but it passed,” says the artist. Recently, after attending a press conference in San Sebastián and on the way back from the airport to his home in Madrid, Cortés had to ask his partner, Mónica Moreno, to take the steering wheel of the vehicle because “suddenly I didn’t see anything“.
The medical staff at the hospital have subjected him to cardiology, neurology and pulmonology tests, in addition to giving him antibiotics and oxygen while waiting for a bronchoscopy and the placement of a “holter”. “So, Until they know what’s happening to me…“, he clarifies. The bailaor thanks his audience and laments his temporary withdrawal from the stage. “It only gives me hope to think that if I’ve danced like that wildly with hardly any oxygen in my blood and with some infection in my lungs, how can I dance! When I feel better!”.
