Józef Nalberczak was one of the most respected of the last century. He has performed with the most important Polish directors and regularly appeared on the stage of the theatre. His distinctive beauty made him memorable to the viewers. Despite his professional successes, fate hit him hard in his private life.
He became famous in Bareja’s comedies. He was a master of episodes
He took his first steps on stage in a drama circle in Rembertów. During World War II, he volunteered for the Polish Army. He was assigned to the Second Infantry Division and began performing in a theater attached to it. After the end of the war, he began studying at the Lodz branch of the Warsaw theater school. He made his professional debut in the comedy “Treasure” by Leonard Buczkowski, but his role was so small that he did not even notice when he appeared on the screen. For over 45 years of his career, he starred in many popular productions, including “Four tank men and a dog” or . On the big screen, he in the comedies “What will you do if you catch me” and “Brunet in the evening”, as well as in such films as “Popioły”, “Black Clouds” or “Doll”. Work was the most important thing to him. He was a fulfilled actor – his son in “Rewia”.
Nalberczak was considered a womanizer. The young actress broke his heart
Despite a thriving career, he was unlucky in his private life. His first wife was Aldona Cacko, whom he married in 1948. The couple had a son, Jack. Soon after, he fell in love with a colleague, Hanna Balińska. For the younger by 17 years, he completely lost his head. He left his family, hoping to find happiness by their side. “He had two wives, a couple of legal concubines, and casual affairs beyond count. He knew how to love strongly, but unfortunately for a short time – recalled his firstborn. Having connections in the industry, he arranged for his mistress even several significant roles. However, soon after, the young actress left him for another man.

He sought forgetfulness and escape from his problems in alcohol. The addiction effectively made his life difficult and worsened his poor health. The actor suffered from a pulmonary embolism and also suffered a stroke, which left him with speech and walking problems. In 1990, he officially ended his career and completely lost himself in addiction. Two years later, on December 18, 1992, he was found dead in his bed by his then-partner. At the time of his death, he was 66 years old.
