Dorothy Stratten was born on February 28, 1960 in Vancouver. As a teenager, she worked in a fast food restaurant where she first met her future husband, pimp Paul Snider. They soon started dating.

At the age of 19, she got married. Her career took off very quickly
The man persuaded her to a stripped session, from which he sent photos to “Playboy”. She was 19 at the time. The year 1979 was a breakthrough for her in several respects – in June she married Snider, and two months later she won the Miss “Playboy” title.
From then on, everything went fast. She started working at the Playboy Club in Los Angeles as a bunny and made her big screen debut with a small role in Americaathon. Later that same year, fans could admire her in the comedy “Skatetown, USA” and “Autumn Born”. Slowly, the road to an acting career opened before her.
She had an affair with the director. She decided to leave her husband
A year later, she won the title of “Playmate of the Year” and starred in “Galaxina”. On the set, she started an affair with director Peter Bogdanovich, which her husband found out with the help of a detective. Dorothy wrote him a letter in which she announced that she was leaving and since then they have separated, as the relationship with the director turned out to be something more serious. Her friends had already warned her of what a dangerous man Snider was. Teresa Carpenter, who “Village Voice Death from a Playmate” discovered that he controlled her and even determined who she should sleep with for the sake of her career.
They met about a divorce. He shot her and committed suicide
When Dorothy met with her husband to discuss divorce issues, tragedy struck. On August 14, 1980, in their apartment in Los Angeles, Paul Snider tied her up, sexually abused her, and finally shot her with a shotgun. He shot straight in the face at close range. Moments later, he committed suicide. Dorothy Stratten didn’t stand a chance. She died at the age of 20, moments after filming the romantic comedy “Laughable”. Two films were recorded about Dorothy’s fate and tragic death – “Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story” and “Star 80”.
