Recently, the topics of the Church in Poland arouse extreme emotions. I am a believer and a practitioner myself, but some time ago I had to deal with how some priests treat other people. A few years ago, my son was born unplanned. Although I had planned a future with him – we even had a date set for the wedding at the church – life turned out differently. I have been in a happy relationship for some time. We are both believers and want to swear love to each other before God. Yes, I’m a mom and I wanted to take a church wedding.
We decided that the wedding will take place in my fiancé’s parish, because we also found a beautiful place for the wedding there. Right after the mass, my fiancé and my son went to the car, and I went to preliminarily talk to the priest. My hands literally fell off after his words. It started very nice, but when he heard that I had a son from another relationship, something seemed to have entered him. I was holding back tears as I left the sacristy. It was hard for me to believe what had happened to the Church in recent years. I don’t think anyone has ever offended me so much in my life… I won’t quote everything, because I don’t even want to remember it, but I heard, among other things, that I am a sinner unworthy of a church wedding and that I should be ashamed of myself and my conduct.
Until recently, I was clutching my head when I heard that the Church today has little to do with God and the teachings of Christ. Unfortunately, I had to experience it myself. Of course, you can certainly still find fantastic priests by vocation who always extend a helping hand to others, but if more and more priests have such an approach to the faithful as the one I had to talk to, it does not surprise me that people run away from this institution .
