He made his big screen debut in 1982 in Privileged. Comedy romances stayed in the actor’s life for longer, and it is from his roles in popular romcoms (comedy film genre, mainly about love – editor’s note) that most viewers know him. Grant played, among others, the charismatic Daniel Cleaver in the series “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, the charming Charles in the movie “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, William Thacker in “Nothing Hill” or the dancing prime minister in “Love Actually”.
Hugh Grant refused to eat the worm pie. He had to answer a difficult question
On March 29, the popular actor appeared on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, where he and Chris Pine took part in the host’s challenge. The guests of the program have to answer inconvenient questions, if they refuse to confess, they will taste unusual dishes that often make them sick.
Hugh Grant was asked which film he would most like to remove from his filmography. An alternative to answering this question was to eat a shepherd’s pie with worms and mayonnaise. The actor chose a sincere confession.
Honestly, I’d happily destroy my resume because I really specialized in being bad at my job for decades.
Hugh Grant revealed which film he would remove from his discography
The actor did not quite want to answer the question. He emphasized that speaking badly about himself is not a problem for him, but belittling other creators is.
As a man in the industry, I can say that I was bad myself, but I can’t demean the rest of my great colleagues who have worked with me on any film by saying it was bad. That’s my dilemma,” the actor explained.
However, after some thought, Grant decided to answer.
“The Lady and the Robber”. It was the mid-1980s, the film was made for television. I was a highwayman, I was supposed to be sexy in it. It’s a low-budget production – I had a tragic wig, a terrible hat. I looked like Deputy Dawg (a character from the cartoon Terrytoons, appearing in the animated TV series of the same name, which was broadcast in 1960-1964 – editorial note), the actor recalls.
The Lady and the Highwayman is a 1988 adventure romance based on Barbara Cartland’s Cupid Rides Pillion. Hugh Grant played the role of the highwayman Silver Blade, alongside actress Lysette Anthony (“Who’s Talking 3”, “Husbands and Wives”, “Robinson Crusoe”).
Hugh Grant and Chris Pine appeared on James Corden’s show to promote Dungeons & Dragons: A Thief’s Honor. The production will enter Polish cinemas on April 14, 2023.
