“Smiling and caring” – this is how Jakub Grabowski writes about himself, who has also been using the pseudonym Jakub from Ciechanów for some time. The new nickname doesn’t lie. The rapper, previously known as Quebonafide, was actually born in Ciechanów, but fans are wondering to what extent the character he creates is a joke or a planned marketing strategy. He has not consistently returned to his previous incarnation for a long time.
From Quebo to Grabowski
The duo of Yochimu with Fuso, later cooperation with SB Maffija, Czesław Mozil or finally with Taco Hemmingway, with whom he beat the popularity of Ed Sheeran in Poland in the Taconafide project – this was Quebonafide’s career. In 2018, he decided to announce a break, shocked by the death of Mac Miller, but already in 2019 he made a guest appearance at the sold-out Podsiadły and Taco concert at the National Stadium, and in 2020 he released the famous “Romantic Psycho” and “Szubienicapestycznydybroń”. In the meantime, he began to create a new image – characteristic tattoos and extroversion were replaced by a polite, shy boy.
The rapper’s alter ego – Jakub Grabowski – was treated by some fans as a joke, but it lasts quite a long time – in autumn 2022, under this pseudonym, he released the single “Chrapka”, after which he went on tour with Kizo. Quebo also went a step further by creating Jakub from Ciechanów. On a rather ironic Instagram account, he publishes satirical photos and the effects of unusual activities – he boasts that he has become a Bee Hero in the Adopt a Bee campaign, and arranges a beer with selected Instagram followers in his own apartment. In the comments, fans enter the accepted convention. “My name is also Jakub! You’re great, you have great potential” – they write.
Conquers a new platform
Now Jakub from Ciechanów can be found not only on Instagram. Under this alias, the rapper appeared on LinkedIn and uses the platform to gain new professional experience. In the previous one, he does not mention a word about his musical career, but mentions work as a bartender and a part-time job on a farm in Germany. In education, he states that he is studying computer science at a post-secondary school, but he does not mention studying philosophy and sociology at the University of Warsaw.
